Future of Burke Lakefront Airport
North Coast Waterfront Development Corporation (NCWDC), in collaboration with the City of Cleveland, is launching a community survey and kicking off a community engagement process in the latest step towards determining the future of the Burke Lakefront Airport (“BKL”). BKL occupies 450 acres of land and two miles of shoreline along Cleveland’s downtown lakefront. The City of Cleveland and NCWDC are currently working with a number of partners to determine if other land uses could provide greater public access and economic opportunities for Clevelanders and visitors alike. NCWDC is eager to hear from stakeholders and community members to better understand how the community thinks about BKL’s current uses and potential future use.
NCWDC will continue to actively engage with Cleveland City Council, civic partners, the business community, and Clevelanders to evaluate potential future uses for BKL that increase public access and catalyze economic growth.
This is a strategic moment to transform Burke into a vibrant, sustainable, and economically impactful waterfront destination that benefits the city, residents, and businesses alike.
